Arlene Roposh Obituary

ARLENE V. ROPOSH Age 79, formerly from Millvale with longtime residences in Fairfax and Williamsburg, VA, passed peacefully in the early morning of Monday January 16, 2023 at UPMC Passavant Hospital. Arlene is survived by her loving siblings, John ( Cathy ) Roposh of Cary, NC, Ronald ( Jackie ) Roposh of Holly Springs, NC, Lorraine ( James ) Beran of Shaler Twp and Charles ( Fran ) Roposh of Schnecksville, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Vera Roposh of Millvale. Arlene was proud Aunt to Cindy Hunt and Michael Roposh of Cary, NC, Nicole Bailey and Carrie Killelea of Holly Springs, NC, Jeff Roposh of Dothan AL, Andrea Roposh of Allentown, PA, Stephen Roposh of Schnecksville, PA, Kenny Roposh of Charleston, SC, Charlotte Hines of USAF Clovis, NM, James and Jonathan Beran of Shaler Twp, PA, Christina McDermott of New Market, MD and many grand nieces and nephews. With love and pride she followed their careers and life events on Facebook and through family correspondence. Upon graduation from Millvale High School Arlene immediately began a career in Federal Government Service, serving the administrations of John F. Kennedy through Barack Obama. She held positions in the Executive Offices, IRAC and the IRS and witnessed a great deal of American history. During her tenure with the Office Of Telecommunications Policy, she worked with and became friends with Anthony Scalia who later became a Supreme Court Justice of the United States. She loved to travel the world and the United States. Some of her favorite trips included the many Roposh family beach reunions where she could share in the antics of her family and marvel at the growth and changes of her beloved nieces and nephews. Arlene was very creative and an excellent organizer. Her Virginia communities relied on her skills to manage neighborhood events and create monthly newsletters. Her creative talents shined brightly in her paintings and her handcrafted personal greeting cards. In January 2021, Arlene returned to Pittsburgh and since last May has been a resident at Ashton Commons in Wexford. Words With Friends, Candy Crush, Facebook, reading, and social activities filled her days to the very last. A special thanks to the staff and friends at Ashton Commons for all of their loving care and support. Family and friends are welcomed at HAHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 123 North Avenue, Millvale on Thursday, January 19 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM.
