Age 94, of Etna, on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Her faith was large, her acceptance limitless. Her humor unexpected, her generosity bottomless. Mother of Mary Ellen Gubanic (Tom Underiner) and dear, longtime companion of the late William Ferketic; daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Zmiovsky) Gubanic; sister of the late Helen Lasky, Andrew Gubanic, Cecelia McGinty, Edward Gubanic, William Gubanic, Mildred (Midge) Jones and Raymond Gubanic; sister-in-law and friend of Mary Grace Gubanic; also aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ruth took great satisfaction and pride working at Bell Telephone Company (1947-1985); then enjoyed nearly 38 years of retirement. She loved Etna, her beloved family, good times at the DOH Club, traveling, and Notre Dame football. Memorial donations may be made to Bread of Life Food Pantry, Etna PA. There will be a memorial service at Saint Mary Church (Christ the King Parish), Sharpsburg, on Thursday, September 21 at 10:30 AM.
