Obituary

Frank A. Yund Jr. of Marshall Twp passed away at age 91 on April 9, 2025. Frank was a devoted, longtime member of the Teutonia Mannerchor. Music and singing were important parts of his life ever since high school choir in Carrick. Instruments were harmonicas, accordian, squeeze box, and keyboard. Equally important in early days was his membership in the Boy Scouts of America where he excelled as an Eagle Scout and in the Order of the Arrow qualifying for many merit badges. He was a master of the double edged axe, winning competitions. An Army veteran, Frank served his country in Germany, using his leave time to travel and immerse himself in the culture. After discharge, he worked three jobs to fund his return and further travels in Europe. His traveling adventures continued throughout his life, in tandem with beloved wife Lois (Law) Yund, and several years after Lois' passing, with loving companion Judy Langdon. Both Lois and Judy were also singers in the Teutonia and travelled with the choir. Frank and Lois camped and travelled in their classic Avion camper and wintered in Texas. Frank and Judy later shared land travel and ocean cruises. Frank worked as a Master Carpenter and USW union member at several steel mills, and worked on Three Rivers Stadium with the Carpenter Union. But for most of his working years, he was an independent contractor and very hardworking craftsman based in the Northside of Pittsburgh. He also built a house for his parents, Frank Sr. and Florence (O'Connor) Yund, where he and Lois would live in subsequent years. Frank joins his parents, his late sister Susan E. Smiley, and many friends. He will be sadly missed by son Alex (Laura, -John), daughter Karen (Ted Bruchlacher, -Lindsay, Jacob, Amy), siblings Bill (Lynn Purvis-Adam, Lorraine), Mary Lou (son Michael), loving companion Judy Langdon, Grandsons John, Nick (Valerie- Jackson, Ben, Stella), Brandon (Amber, -Rose, Hank) and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Sincere thanks to the good people at Concordia, Cranberry Twp. Friends received Saturday 6-8 PM and Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Hahn FH & Cremation Services Inc. 123 North Avenue, Millvale. Services Monday 10 AM at the funeral home.
