On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, age 83, of Shaler Twp. Beloved Husband of 20 years to Susan J. Butera. Step-Dad of Lisa Marie Thomas and Amy Lea Marco. Proud Poppy of Faith and Jalen Thomas. Uncle of Linda Monteleone, Ann Cipriani, James Monteleone, Janice Muto, and Ralph Butera. Son-in-Law of Joyce L. Dellit of Lake Arrowhead, CA. Brother-in-Law of Gloria Butera. Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Catherine Butera, Sister, Angeline Monteleone and Brother, Tony Butera. Friends received Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Hahn FH & Cremation Services Inc. 123 North Avenue, Millvale. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 Am Holy Spirit Church. Richard was a Chemistry Professor at the University of Pittsburgh for over 50 years. He also taught at the Governer's School at Carnegie Mellon University for the past 10 years. Richard served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a very active member of Holy Spirit Church and the VFW Post #118. Family suggests memorials to the VFW Post #118, 605 North Avenue Pgh PA 15209.
